The Best Business Podcasts For Small Business Entrepreneurs

Is there a better time to dive into podcasts? I’m happy to tell you about 10 of the best business and entrepreneur podcasts I like right now and why.

If you work from home like me, nothing has changed because of COVID-19 – except for maybe having to add an extra grocery day to the calendar (Seriously, neighbors, all the eggs? ALL of them?). But, if you’re a 9 to 5 professional stuck at home, you probably have more time to work and/or slack than you need. I say get into a business podcast or two. You might end up learning something that sparks your interest in a side-hustle or new career. My Top 10 are below.

NOTE: The podcast list I’ve curated covers a range of categories from marketing to business to entrepreneur. Expect to evolve overtime. The list is ordered by the podcasts I gather the most actionable content and takeaways. Enjoy!

My 10 Favorite Business Podcasts for Entrepreneurs Right Now

AskPat 2.0: A weekly coaching call on online business, blogging, marketing, and lifestyle design.

AskPat 2.0 : A Weekly Coaching Call on Online Business, Blogging, Marketing, and Lifestyle Design

Host: Pat Flynn

When I discovered Pat Flynn, the guy I learned about podcasting and affiliate marketing, hosted a second podcast with his audience, I was all for it. In this podcast, Pat brings on his fans and followers who have a business problem to solve: convert more leads to clients, course creation, grow email list, etc to name a few. The best part is that these are people like me – small business owner / entrepreneur / content creator. I rarely miss an episode.

Marketing Made Easy Podcast: Expert interviews, mini execution plans, and intimate behind-the-scenes secrets from my biggest launches… all tied together by my mission to make EVERYTHING you listen to as actionable and profitable as possible.

Online Marketing Made Easy with Amy Porterfield

Host: Amy Porterfield

I’ve been listening to Amy Porterfield since I first heard her being interviewed by Pat Flynn on the Smart Passive Income(SPI) podcast (which also made this list at #7). No BS every episode have something to take notes! In fact on the SPI episode where I was introduced to her, I was on a morning walk and couldn’t get through it because of the notes I took. Amy really brings solid content and interviews that give you the action items to followup.

Marketing School – Digital Marketing and Online Marketing Tips

Host: Eric Siu and Neil Patel

I’ve been following and learning from Neil Patel since late 2016 when I began moonlighting as a WordPress Web Designer. Niel is the Search Engine Optimization (SEO) guru. This guy knows how to be found on the internet. In 2019, I started to take LinkedIn more seriously as more marketplace to shop clients. That’s when I noticed Niel had expanded his content to video and podcasting. Genius play for multiple reasons. The podcast publishes episodes less than 10 minutes long. Niel and co-host are pumping out online marketing gems – more like diamonds!

#4

Earn Your Leisure

Hosts: Rashad Bilal and Troy Millings

Earn Your Leisure podcast would be voted the number 1 reason I have all of these browser tabs open. I love hearing stories about the industries where other black and minority professionals have found success. The guests and hosts get along like they’ve known each other for years. The interviews have a familiar, almost family-like, tone. The podcast epitomizes the successful startup story format, and I’ve been a tuned in listener since its inception in early 2019. I’d like to be feature-able and one day invited to the Earn Your Leisure podcast.

The Membership Guys Podcast with Mike Morrison

Host: Mike Morrison

I stumbled onto The Membership Guys while researching WordPress user management plugins for a client’s subscription-based website. I joined their email list to download an insanely useful comparison chart of membership tools, plugins, etc. Membership websites is their niche, and they are beasts at it. Their website, Facebook group, and podcast are consistently validating their knowledge in this space. Mike has the childlike high energy I have talking with people about work they love.

Building a StoryBrand with Donald Miller podcast artwork

#6

Building a StoryBrand with Donald Miller

Host: Donald Miller

StoryBrand is the podcast I would want to have. Donald talks with successful business owners and entrepreneurs with no particular commonality except they have really great stories. If you are someone that wants to improve your interviewing skills, please listen to Building a StoryBrand podcast. Donald asks open-ended, get-to-point questions, AND allows his guest to answer them. No, I’m not being sarcastic. I love a good interviewer, and some of my favorite podcast hosts can learn from Donald Miller’s questioning techniques.

#7

The Smart Passive Income Online Business and Blogging Podcast

Host: Pat Flynn

The Smart Passive Income (SPI) podcast is the podcast that started my listening to podcasts. I mentioned above that I learned podcasting and affiliate marketing from Pat Flynn. I’ve been soaking in content marketing, online selling, lead magnet generation from SPI content since I started started my story blog Mike Writing in 2016. In one line, Pat is the person to learn how to make money online. The SPI podcast has been a super gateway podcast. No kidding; I discovered podcasters like Amy Porterfield, Mike O’neal, the StoryBrand founders, and more. Then there are the authors Pat’s had on the show – too many to list here. I’ll just say that 95% of the SPI guest authors have books in my Audible Wish List or Library.

The Financial Samurai Podcast podcast artwork

#8

The Financial Samurai Podcast

Host: Sam Dogen

I’d been reading the Financial Samurai blog for about 5 years. I did a fist pump when I discovered that Sam, The Financial Samurai, started a podcast (turns out that Sam had a podcast long before he restarted it mid-2019). This podcast isn’t interview style. It’s first person with Sam opening up his genius about any area of income and investing. The dude is so damn smart, and I was a little bit bummed that his podcast isn’t the typical guest-interview. But, to be frank, Sam is a beast! A machine. I don’t feel like he could be kept up with in a back-and-forth, but I’d definitely like to see that. I’m not in a financially secure enough place to capitalize on a lot of the wisdom, but I appreciate that it’s archived in my favorite format.

The GaryVee Audio Experience podcast artwork

#9

The GaryVee Audio Experience

Host: Gary Vaynerchuk

Gary Vaynerchuk has the life I want to live for just a tiny bit – just like 365 days. He’s a digital advertising agency mogul and the entrepreneur’s entrepreneur. If you’re not familiar with Gary’s content, keep hanging around the internet. Spoiler alert: You’ll might misinterpret his message as hustle, hustle, hustle, but the message is actually ‘do what makes you genuinely happy’. Gary’s keynote speeches are biggest reason I follow his content. He doesn’t pull punches when he speaks – whether face-to-face or on the stage. He’s the guy I want to rock stages like. With Gary’s podcast, I playback the keynote episodes – sometimes on repeat. Unfortunately, the enviable passion that drives Gary Vee makes him a terrible interviewer. I can rarely sit through an interview episode unless I’m 110% interested in the guest, because Gary asks great questions the interrupts the answer. It’s painful for me. I love good interviews so much.

Problem Solvers podcast artwork

#10

Problem Solvers

Host: Jason Feifer

Jason Feifer is the Editor in Chief of Entrepreneur magazine. That’s only significant to this blurb because I like writers that are excellent communicators. In addition to The Storybrand podcast (#6), Problem Solvers is the other podcast I want for my birthday. Jason hosts each episode in a format where he mixes narration and interview so well, it feels like all podcasts should be. He’s got a perfect cadence and really delivers a story experience. The only reason Problem Solvers isn’t higher on this list is that there are podcasts with content more relevant to where I am in my online business and entrepreneur adventures.

Summary

I always appreciate someone introducing me to a solid, useful resource. My circle of young professionals is growing, so I receive regular book and/or podcast suggestions. It’s a great time to be alive.

These are 10 of my favorite podcasts for entrepreneurs right now – those getting the most plays. Business, entrepreneurship, marketing, and tales of startups are the only podcast content I consume at the moment. They keep the creative juices flowing.

Hopefully, I’ve passed on some gold to you. Let me know in the comments if you listen to any podcasts mentioned here. Definitely drop the names of any business podcast you recommend.
